Press Release
Pierce and Calumet Counties Join PACE Wisconsin Program
Affordable financing for energy improvements to spur economic development
MADISON, Wis. (October 24, 2018) – Pierce and Calumet Counties are 33rd and 34th in the state to join PACE Wisconsin, a program which enables commercial property owners to obtain low-cost, long-term financing for energy efficiency, renewable energy, and water conservation improvements.
Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy (C-PACE) drives economic development by authorizing municipalities and counties to work with private sector lenders to provide upfront financing—usually for 100 percent of the cost of energy-saving improvements—for property owners for qualified projects.
Adoption of the PACE Wisconsin program will help these counties:
Since the program launched less than two years ago over, $8.4 million in energy efficiency upgrade projects have been funded by financing available through PACE Wisconsin. “This program proves that affordable financing can motivate building owners to invest in clean energy technologies for new and existing buildings,” said Jason Stringer, Program Administrator for PACE Wisconsin. “While the energy improvements reduce future operating costs for property owners, communities reap the benefits of revitalization, economic development, and increased sustainability.”
Pierce and Calumet Counties join the following in adopting PACE Wisconsin: Ashland, Bayfield, Brown, Chippewa, Dane, Door, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Fond du Lac, Iowa, Jefferson, Kenosha, La Crosse, Manitowoc, Marathon, Milwaukee, Outagamie, Ozaukee, Portage, Racine, Rusk, Sauk, Shawano, Sheboygan, St. Croix, Vernon, Washington, Waukesha, Waupaca, Winnebago, and Wood.
The statewide program is administered by Madison nonprofit Energy Finance Solutions (EFS), the financial services division of WECC.

Adoption of the PACE Wisconsin program will help these counties:
- Stimulate job creation and investment in goods and services.
- Lower the cost of doing business by reducing the cost of capital to fund improvements, in turn saving building owners money on operating expenses.
- Revitalize aging buildings and improve the local building stock—raising the value of property and the potential tax base.
- Achieve sustainability goals by fostering the completion of energy and water saving projects.
